Art in the Afternoon

Art in the Afternoon is a hands-on, creative program designed for children in grades K-5.

Stephanie Sulzman and Mary Hunnicutt are both degreed and certified art teachers. They both live in Black Mountain and have children who attend the Black Mountain Schools. Between the two of them, they have taught students of all ages for over 30 years.

Art in the Afternoon students are inspired and encouraged by looking at art from other cultures, artists, and learning about history. Earth-friendly projects that encourage recycling are emphasized. Our students are proud and our parents are amazed at the quality of the art work that is produced!

Personal expression is encouraged, as well as skill development using different media.
